PM Yatseniuk announces termination Ukraine cabinet's powers

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has announced the termination of the current cabinet's powers after the country's new parliament opened its first session on Thursday.

"I have the honor of announcing the termination of this cabinet's powers. We have accomplished our mission. I ask you to appoint a new government," Yatseniuk said.

Under Ukraine's constitution, the government steps down from office at the first session of the country's new parliament but continues to fulfill its duties until a new cabinet is formed.
