U.S. open-door policy with respect to Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic prospects unchanged - State Department
Washington does not object to Ukraine's bid for NATO membership, U.S. State Department spokesman Jeff Rathke said at a briefing on Friday.
"With respect to their security policy and their calls for ties with NATO, our policy is that the door remains open, and the countries that are willing to contribute to security in the Euro-Atlantic alliance, in the Euro-Atlantic space are welcome to apply for membership," he said.
When asked by a journalist, how Washington assesses Moscow's objection to Ukraine's joining the Alliance, the spokesman said: "Ukrainians have the right to make their own decisions about what policies they want to pursue. That’s really their responsibility."
