The police and prosecution service have denied claims that there were a series of explosions in Kharkiv overnight.
"We have had no information about explosions," a source in Kharkiv region police department's public relations division told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
"There were no explosions in Kharkiv in the early morning hours of Wednesday," the Kharkiv region prosecution service told Interfax-Ukraine.
Reports posted in social networking services claimed that a series of explosions had occurred last night and on Wednesday morning in the Kominternivsky, Frunzensky and Moskovsky districts of Kharkiv. Bloggers wrote about explosions "which did not sound like fireworks" but did not mention their location or what damage they had caused. Similar information was released on websites supporting the pro-Russian militants.
