Kyiv hopes Russia will support resumption of east Ukraine talks in Geneva format
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said that he hopes for a speedy resumption of talks on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine in the Geneva format (Ukraine, Russia, the EU, and the United States).
"We have always supported the Geneva format involving the European Union, the United States, Russia and our country. I believe that it would be very helpful, and we are gradually working on this [resumption of the Geneva format]," he said in an interview with Channel 5 late on Friday.
He noted that he and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had recently talked to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
Klimkin said that the EU and the United States support the resumption of negotiations in the Geneva format.
"I hope that Russia will also support such a meeting in the near future," he said.
