Mogherini says east Ukraine situation extremely negative, more sanctions on Russia possible
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said that the situation in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine is extremely negative, the Associated Press reported on Thursday.
She said during her visit to Warsaw that " t he situation on the ground [in eastern Ukraine] is extremely negative, with people dying yesterday."
In addition, she said that the so-called "elections" held in eastern Ukraine on Sunday, which Moscow has praised, "were a very negative sign."
Speaking about differences between the EU and Russia on the Ukrainian problem, Mogherini said that "the issue of sanctions is always on the table."
Earlier it was reported that the subject of sanctions against Russia would be considered at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on November 17.
