Poroshenko cites world leaders in saying West will not recognize Donbas elections
The elections in the Donbas region must be held exclusively in accordance with Ukrainian laws, otherwise they will be recognized neither by Ukraine, nor the global community, says President Petro Poroshenko.
Poroshenko told the judicial reform council that in recent days he held consultations with world leaders and obtained reassurances that the elections in parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions "will not be recognized by the world and drastically contradict Ukrainian laws, the Minsk accords and jeopardize the whole peace process," according to the press office of the Ukrainian head of state.
The president said that the world leaders emphasize that the elections must be held exclusively in accordance with Ukrainian laws.
