Canadian embassy, GFATM send humanitarian aid to Ukraine
The Canadian Embassy in Ukraine has allocated CAD 3 million for the purchase of vaccines for Ukraine, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) will allocate $5.3 million more, the Ukrainian Health Ministry has reported.
"We appealed to the World Health Organization (WHO), and the government of Canada has allocated three million Canadian dollars for the purchase of vaccines for Ukraine. Negotiations are being held with the Global Fund that will allocate $5.3 million for the treatment of patients with HIV, AIDS and TB… And $1.2 million will be allocated foe medicines for children with HIV/AIDS," acting Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets said.
In addition, he said, the Health Ministry and the Finance Ministry are drafting a project under which the World Bank can provide Ukraine with the so-called "urgent loan of UAH 50 million."
