Decisive contribution to de-escalation in Ukraine must be made by Russia – Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said about a forthcoming meeting of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Milan.
"Will speak Putin+Poroshenko at ASEM. Decisive contribution to deescalation in Ukraine must be made by Russia," a Twitter of German Foreign Office quotes Merkel as saying.
As Italian Premier Matteo Renzi said early on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko in Milan on October 17.
The Italian premier will host a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko on the sidelines of an Asia-Europe ACEM summit, at which Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande, David Cameron will also be present.
Poroshenko is to leave for Milan on October 16 to hold a number of meetings on the sidelines of an ASEM two-day summit.
