National TV council bans rebroadcasting of Russian and Belarusian TV channels
The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine at a meeting on October 15 decided to ban rebroadcasting of one Russian TV channel 365 Days and one Belarusian TV channel Belarus 24.
Council Head Yuriy Artemenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday that the decision was made due to the fact that the channels spread news materials that violate the European Convention on Transfrontier Television.
He also said that the council plans to appeal to court asking to ban the broadcasting of the said TV channel on the territory of Ukraine.
Deputy Council Head Hryhoriy Shverk said that at present court hearings against six Russian TV channels are underway in Ukraine.
