Group of Ukrainian parliamentarians to attend Savchenko trial in Moscow
A group of members of the Batkivschyna faction of the Ukrainian parliament will leave for Moscow on Monday to attend the trial of the case involving Ukrainian pilot Nadia Savchenko.
"We are leaving for Moscow to attend the Savchenko trial. There is a group of parliamentarians: [Andriy] Kozhemiakin, [Oleksandra] Kuzhel, and [Yuriy] Pavlovsky. Nadia's mother will also come," parliamentarian Andriy Shevchenko said on Twitter on Monday.
According to earlier reports, Batkivschyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko and representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe planned to monitor the next hearing of the Savchenko case in Russia on October 13.
Savchenko leads the Batkivschyna party list in the early parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Ukraine on October 26.
Vladimir Markin, an official with the Investigative Committee, told Interfax earlier on Monday that Savchenko had been hospitalized in Moscow and was to undergo a psychiatric and psychological evaluation.
