Ukraine hopes parliaments of EU countries will quickly ratify Association Agreement - Yatseniuk
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said he hopes for the speedy ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU by all parliaments of the EU member states and added that the implementation of this document by the Ukrainian side is a priority for reforms in the country in the near future.
"Ukraine has begun the implementation of the Association Agreement, and it is a key agenda for reforms in Ukraine in the near future," the government's press service quoted him as saying at a meeting with the heads of the parliaments of European countries in Kyiv on Friday.
He recalled that Ukraine had ratified the association and free trade agreement with the EU.
"We expect that the agreement will be ratified as soon as possible by all parliaments of the EU states," Yatseniuk said.
He said it was important that the EU countries support Ukraine in achieving peace and stability, adding that the Cabinet of Ministers appreciates the visit by the heads of the parliaments of the European countries to Ukraine as a signal of support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
In addition, the sides discussed preparations for the parliamentary elections in Ukraine, as well as the economic situation and security in the country. Yatseniuk noted that the Ukrainian government was determined to continue an ambitious reform program with the support of the EU and international partners.
