Kyiv says first two drones for OSCE mission to arrive in Ukraine on Oct 5
The first two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) operating in the east will be delivered to Ukraine on October 5, Ukrainian permanent representative to Vienna-based international organizations Ihor Prokopchuk said.
"The signed OSCE contracts are being executed and the first UAVs are due to arrive in Ukraine in two days," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.
The complex will consist of the drones and a control station, Prokopchuk added.
According to Prokopchuk, another two drones will be delivered to Ukraine by the middle of October.
The delivery of four drones will not be final, "and negotiations about the use of capacities of certain countries are in progress," Prokopchuk continued.
He said France and Germany had given their preliminary consent to supply additional drones for the OSCE SMM.
The use of other monitoring devices, such as video cameras, satellite systems and images, is being considered to bolster the monitoring potential of the OSCE, he said.
