Militants storming Donetsk airport, four attacks repelled on Wednesday - NSDC
The entire territory of the Donetsk airport is under the control of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces, and fighting is now going on there, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko has said.
"The whole territory of the airport is under the control of the Ukrainian military. There are forces, ammunition and food - all that is needed to hold the defense. And [supplies] constantly come, because the airport is not encircled," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.
He said that on Wednesday, after two attacks with tanks and Grad multiple missile systems, gunmen stormed the airport four times.
"Our military heroically kept the defense, and all attacks were repulsed with heavy losses being sustained by the terrorists," Lysenko said.
He said that attacks on the airport resumed at 0600.
