EC hopes next trilateral meeting on gas with Russia and Ukraine will take place by weekend
The governments of Ukraine and Russia will continue to discuss the proposals achieved on September 26 in Berlin at a meeting of EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Ukraine's Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan.
"Now the governments in Kyiv and Moscow have time to study what was put on paper and in which we see a possible compromise," spokesperson for the EU Energy Commissioner Marlene Holzner said at a briefing in Brussels.
She noted that the parties plan after these internal consultations to meet again in a trilateral format.
"This could happen by the end of this week," she said.
As reported, the parties in Berlin on September 26 previously agreed to solve the problem of gas supplies to Ukraine and the EU during the winter season.
