Defense line being constructed in eastern Ukraine – Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that a defensive line is being built in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"At the moment, a defense line is being constructed… where we can hold the ground, the Ukrainian troops should not be left under fire without protection," Poroshenko said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on Sunday evening.

According to the president, the best Ukrainian experts have been involved in the construction of the defense structures.

The construction of the defensive line is being overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman, Poroshenko said. He stressed that these structures will provide a "reliable line of defense" and create conditions for holding these areas.
