Merkel to visit Ukraine on Aug 23, meet with Poroshenko, Yatseniuk
German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Ukraine on August 23 at the invitation of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, German government press secretary Steffen Seibert has said.
Merkel will meet with Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, he added.
The meetings will focus on the Ukrainian situation and relations with Russia, as well as ways to support Ukraine amid the crisis.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on Monday that Merkel would visit Ukraine on the eve of its national holiday, Independence Day.
