Rada votes to reestablish military prosecutor's offices
The Ukrainian parliament has passed amendments to the law on the prosecutor's office that restore the institution of military prosecutor's offices.
A total of 249 out of the 312 MPs registered in the session hall voted for this law on Thursday, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
The law proposes restoring the system of military prosecutors' offices, which had been abolished, as this is a pressing demand of wartime, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement Agencies Andriy Kozhemiakin of the Batkivschyna faction said during the plenary meeting.
Head of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defense Volodymyr Lytvyn, for his part, said that military prosecutor's offices will be located in military units that are involved in the anti-terrorist operation.
The reestablished system of military prosecutor's offices will exist until a new law on the prosecutor's office is adopted.
