Mine fire near Donetsk burning for almost 24 hours
A fire which broke out in the first sector of the Pokrovske mine administration in Krasnoarmiysk, Donetsk region, on Tuesday is still burning, the local emergency situations department said.
"The affected area is being flooded in order to put out the fire. The event is under investigation," it noted.
Seven units of the state paramilitary mining rescue service of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry are working on the scene. The mine has suspended operation.
A gas-air mixture exploded at the depth of 815 meters in the first sector of the Pokrovske mine administration in Krasnoarmiysk, Donetsk region, at 1028 on Tuesday.
A criminal inquiry was opened consistent with Part 2, Article 272 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (a violation of safety regulations in hazardous works).
