Poroshenko insists on passing bill to prevent courts from passing rulings under pressure from militants

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that bills should be passed to prevent situations when courts pass their rulings under pressure from militants.

In such cases it is necessary to consider the possibility of the handover of cases to other courts of Ukraine, the president's press service reported on Wednesday.

"We are in danger of having judgments made on behalf of Ukraine, which judges currently issue either at gunpoint of terrorists, or else in other illegal ways. Therefore, I have a request to you to support the relevant bill," Poroshenko said during a meeting with leaders of parliamentary factions and groups.

He also noted the need to pass several bills related to holding of the anti-terrorist operation, in particular, to give law enforcement agencies the right to detain criminal suspects for up to 30 days.
