Fate of 11 paratroopers ambushed near Shakhtarsk on July 31 still unknown - NSDC
The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) is still unaware of the fate of 11 Ukrainian paratroopers who went missing following an attack by militants on a convoy of government forces near Shakhtarsk, Donetsk region.
"The fate of 11 paratroopers who went missing after a clash with terrorists is unknown," NSDC information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing on Sunday.
As reported, Yuriy Halushkin, acting commander of the Ukrainian Landing Troops, said at a briefing on August 1 that ten Ukrainian paratroopers had been killed, 13 wounded, and 11 went missing in the fighting near the town of Shakhtarsk, Donetsk region, on July 31.
Halushkin said the commander of the unit tried to lead the troops out, but they were ambushed.
