Poroshenko vows Ukraine will have enough gas for cold season
President Petro Poroshenko has promised that Ukraine will have enough natural gas to take it through the coming cold season safely and claimed that reverse gas flows from the European Union would be a partial solution.
'There will be gas, there will be reverse flows, there will be a single united Ukrainian nation, there will be sovereignty and territorial integrity," Poroshenko told Ukrainian television on Friday.
Last month Ukraine began to receive less gas from the EU through reverse flows but the country is pinning its hopes on planned reverse supply via Slovakia that is due to start in September.
Poroshenko also said Ukraine was open to compromises on gas issues with Russia.
