MP Sobolev: Early parliamentary elections in Ukraine may be held in first half of October
Early parliamentary elections in Ukraine may be held in the first half of October 2014, Batkivschyna faction leader Serhiy Sobolev said in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"When will the elections take place? I think on October 5 or 12," Sobolev said on the air of Hromadske TV Channel on Thursday night.
According to him, the elections should be held according to a new law on election of MPs, and thus the parliament needs to adopt such a law or amend the current law on elections of MPs during its next plenary week scheduled for August 12-15. The Batkivschyna faction leader noted that the elections needed to be held according to proportional election system with open lists. "We clearly meet all the deadlines of election campaign," Sobolev said.
