Norway to 'align itself' with EU's new sanctions against Russia
Norway is planning to 'align itself' with the EU sanctions against Russia over Ukraine, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Borge Brende said in a statement on Wednesday.
"In a situation like this, we have no choice but to respond. The EU has now done so in a forceful manner," Brende said. "Given the important foreign policy considerations involved, there is good reason for Norway to align itself with the new measures. We will consult the Storting [Norway's unicameral parliament] before a final decision is taken," he added.
Norwegian media forecast that such an initiative is likely to find support of Norwegian members of parliament.
