Kyiv says Ukrainian army not involved in Boeing crash
A Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council speaker has denied the involvement of Ukrainian servicemen in the Malaysia Airlines Boeing crash in the Donetsk region on Thursday evening.
"There were no fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Ukrainian airspace at that moment. The Boeing 777 was out of the area of operation of ground-based air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Council Information Center speaker Andriy Lysenko told a Friday press briefing.
He stressed that the Ukrainian army did not fire at airborne targets.
"Air defense systems and missiles deployed on the Ukrainian territory have been checked; all the missiles are there," he said.
