Biden tells Poroshenko US determined to support Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has spoken by phone with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, the press service of the head of state reported early on Wednesday.
According to the report, Poroshenko said that as a result of the negotiations held with the leaders of over ten countries he had received assurances "of their full understanding of the steps he takes, and of their support."
"Ukraine is fighting for democracy, solidarity and freedom. Therefore, the support of reliable friends is a real value for our state," Poroshenko said.
Biden, in turn, told Poroshenko that "the American people are on the side of Ukraine."
"The United States is determined to continue to strongly support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, and will act aggressively to form a common position with the EU," Biden said.
