Rajoy tells Poroshenko Spain will support Ukraine at European Council meeting
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has discussed in a phone conversation with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy the question of a European Council meeting to be held in Brussels on July 16, the press service of the head of state has reported.
"The Spanish prime minister assured the Ukrainian president of the support by the government and people of Spain for the Ukrainian people in difficult times for them. Mariano Rajoy promised to support Ukraine at a European Council meeting. He assured that his country was following the situation in Ukraine," reads the report.
At the same time, Poroshenko noted that "the situation in the Donbas remains extremely tense, because supplies of weapons and militants across the Ukrainian-Russian border continue."
Rajoy also offered his condolences over the deaths of Ukrainian servicemen.
