Poroshenko urges EU to assess cases of illegal actions of Russian military
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has held talks with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, the press service of the head of state has reported.
"During the conversation, Poroshenko urged the European Union to assess the cases of illegal crossing of the Russian-Ukrainian border by military hardware, and attacks by Russian military on the positions of Ukrainian servicemen," reads the report.
Poroshenko said that Ukraine would provide all of the documentary evidence for a proper international response.
He also demanded the release of all Ukrainian hostages held captive, including Nadia Savchenko and Oleh Sentsov, who have been imprisoned in Russia.
"The head of state also asked the European Council president to include the Ukrainian issue on the agenda of the European Council on July 16. Herman Van Rompuy confirmed that this would definitely be done," the press service reported.
Poroshenko said he expected a clear and decisive reaction of the EU in line with the European Council conclusions of June 27.
