Poroshenko hopes constitutional amendments will help settle east Ukraine crisis
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is hopeful that the amendments to the country's constitution proposed by him will help resolve the crisis in Ukraine's eastern regions.
"I am convinced that the endorsement and implementation of these amendments to the constitution is the most reliable method of settling the crisis in Donbas. It will bring the authorities closer to people all over the country. We will not be able to go to Donbas without it because victory there cannot be achieved by the military instrument alone. We need to win the hearts of the people living there with the help of the instruments offered by my peace plan," he said in parliament on Thursday, when presenting new draft amendments to the country's constitution.
