Council of Europe ready to help Ukraine - PACE head
According to the Council of Europe, preserving territorial integrity of participating states is a fundamental principle of the organization.
Ukraine is part of the Council of Europe family and it is obligation of the Council of Europe to provide support to family members when they need it, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Anne Brasseur said in Strasbourg on Thursday prior to the speech of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. Essentially all eyes are concentrated on Ukraine today, she said.
The Council of Europe is ready to assist Ukraine, firstly in carrying out constitutional, court and legislation reforms and fighting corruption, Brasseur said.
The peaceful plan proposed by Poroshenko and truce are grounds for hope, she said.
It is symbolic that Poroshenko's first visit is to Strasbourg, Brasseur said.
