Poroshenko promises to adapt Ukrainian laws to European standards after signing association agreement with EU
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he is confident that the association agreement with the European Union can be successfully implemented.
"Ukraine will become a full-fledged associated member of the EU in the presence of 28 heads of states and governments of the EU countries in Brussels on Friday, June 27. This is what we have fought for the recent months and years, since 2007," Poroshenko said during a meeting with representatives of public administration and local self-government bodies in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The signing of the document will complete the first stage of Ukraine's European integration, after which the country will begin implementing and adapting its legislation to the European standards, he said.
"This work will be as difficult and responsible, but I am confident that we will do it very well," Poroshenko said.
