Two of 48 killed in May's Odessa violence unidentified - official

Two of the 48 people who were killed during violence in the Trade Union House in Odessa on May 2 remain unidentified, the head of the Odessa Regional Forensic Medicine Bureau, Hryhoriy Kryvda, said on Saturday.

Kryvda said at a meeting of a commission investigating the violence that eight of the 48 of the victims had died of bullet wounds, nine of carbon monoxide poisoning, two of burns, three of burns affecting their respiratory organs, four of burns and carbon monoxide poisoning, and 14 of poisoning with unidentified gases or fumes.

Kryvda said no traces of narcotic drugs or other medicines had been detected in any of the bodies. Nor, he said, had any of the bodies borne traces of blows inflicted with blunt objects. This gave the lie to allegations in the media that some of the more than 200 people who were injured were clubbed to death, Kryvda said.
