Ukrainian army creates buffer zone at border - Defense Ministry
Ukrainian armed forces are about to complete restoring control at the state border, acting Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Koval has said.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces virtually complete restoring the state border in close cooperation with border guards. The Ukrainian Armed Forces operate at the range of 10 to 15 km, thus creating a buffer zone, while border guards and we restore all subdivisions of the State Border Service and checkpoints," Koval told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian president has set clearly tasks on restoring control at borders with Russia and servicemen implement them, the acting minister said. "The state border will be closed reliably from outside attempts to penetrate our state," Koval said.
