Explosion on Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline in Poltava region of Ukraine
An explosion has occurred on the Urengoi-Pomary-Uzhgorod gas pipeline in the Lokhvytsia district of the Poltava region of Ukraine, the press service for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's department in the Poltava region told Interfax.
"A report on the explosion came at around 1420. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters are still working," the press service said.
According to the police, the explosion occurred on the section of the pipeline located in a field and the nearest populated area is some one kilometer off.
"According to eyewitnesses, the flame came as high as some 200 meters," the press service reported.
The press service for the Ukrtransgaz company currently has no information on the accident.
