Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes has returned to Kharkiv after undergoing treatment in Israel.
An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that Kernes was taken to the steps of the local airport in a wheelchair at 1540. People who gathered in front of the airport greeted him with applause and shouts "Kernes."
Kernes thanked the people, as well as the doctors who treated him.
However, he noted that he still had problems with his feet.
"But I promise you all that I'll definitely walk, because I have such a desire," he said.
The mayor also said he was not afraid of those who tried to kill him.
