State Border Service head continues to fulfill his duties
Mykola Lytvyn continues to perform his duties as chairman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, the service's press office has told Interfax-Ukraine.
"He is at his workplace and performs his duties," the press service said.
In turn, Serhiy Astakhov, assistant to the State Border Service chairman, said the State Border Service was operating in the regular regime. "The service administration is fulfilling its official duties. The supreme commander makes every decision regarding chiefs of the Ukrainian law enforcement authorities," Astakhov said.
Interfax has learned about a meeting between Maidan sotnyks (group leaders) and Lytvyn held early on Friday morning, at which the State Border Service head reportedly tendered his resignation
Media reported on Friday that Lytvyn had allegedly tendered his resignation after the State Border Service building was blocked by activists who are dissatisfied with the work of the service leadership.
