Kyiv urges international community to press on Moscow to free all political prisoners, including Ukrainian film director

Kyiv demands that Moscow free moviemaker Oleh Sentsov and three other Ukrainian citizens detained in Crimea.

"We demand that Russian authorities immediately free Sentsov and other detained Ukrainian citizens," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a commentary on Thursday.

Kyiv "calls on the international community, international non-governmental organizations dealing with human rights, and Russia's public" to continue "purposeful pressure on the Kremlin so that it release all political prisoners, including citizens of Ukraine."

Reports said earlier that Ukrainian film director Sentsov was detained in Crimea by Russian law enforcement services on May 11. He was accused of organizing a terror attack. Reports emerged on May 19 saying that he was transferred to a detention facility in Moscow.
