Lines formed at polling stations where presidential and local elections held, says CEC official
The Central Election Commission (CEC) is satisfied with the course of the extraordinary presidential election being held in Ukraine on Sunday in all of the regions, apart from two eastern regions.
"We're satisfied with the course of the election process, apart from Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Deputy Head of CEC Zhanna Usenko-Chorna said.
She said that lines at polling stations are mainly seen at the station where presidential and local elections are being held.
The low turnout in some western regions is linked to the way of life of local residents who go to church on Sunday mornings, she said. Usenko-Chorna said that the low turnout in the regions could be linked to bad communications, as Ukrtelecom does not provide services of the proper quality there.
According to the information on 184 election districts from CEC, turnout in Zakarpattia region was 10.35%, Chernivtsi region – 15.06%, Ternopil region – 15.15%, Lviv region - 16.91% and Ivano-Frankivsk region - 17.59%.
