Kazakh leader concerned by OSCE helplessness over Ukraine situation
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said he is troubled by the inability of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to help settle the conflict in Ukraine.
"We cannot help but be concerned by the signs of powerlessness on the part of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to resolve the unfolding conflict in Ukraine. One of the reasons behind it is the absence of any political goodwill to reform this organization demonstrated by its leadership even after the historic Astana summit of the OSCE in 2010," Nazarbayev said at the 7th Astana Economic Forum on Friday.
"Kazakhstan is particularly worried by the possibility of a halt to the dialogue of leading powers on global nuclear security," the Kazakh leader said, adding this circumstance "may nullify all of the nuclear threat reduction achievements of the past few decades."
