Fight near Volnovakha claims lives of 13 Ukrainian servicemen - Turchynov

During the fighting near Volnovakha in Donetsk region on Thursday morning thirteen Ukrainian servicemen were killed, Verkhovna Rada Chairman and interim President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has reported.

"During the battles – when the militants aimed to attack and capture of the town of Volnovakha – our servicemen defended this town, didn't allow [militants] to go further, but unfortunately, 13 of our guys sacrificed their lives for Ukraine under mortar, grenade, and heavy automatic weapons fire," he said during the meeting with the members of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations in Kyiv on Thursday.
