61 soldiers hospitalized since operation began in east Ukraine - ministry

A military hospital in Kharkiv has admitted 61 service members from various units since the security operation began in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.

"A very heavy burden is lying on our military hospital in Kharkiv... It is very potent, we have reinforced it with specialists from the Kyiv Main Military Medical Center," said Vitaliy Andronatiy, the Director of the Defense Ministry's Military Medical Department, adding that it is the only military hospital in the country's eastern region.

The hospital provides treatment for military personnel across all areas, the defense ministry spokesperson said.

Those with severe injuries get immediately airlifted to Kyiv, Andronatiy said.
