Ex-head of Kyiv Metropoliten denies violations at company

The former head of municipal enterprise Kyiv Metropoliten, Volodymyr Fedorenko, has confirmed his dismissal from office and denied there are violations at the enterprise.

"I received instructions from the leadership of Kyiv City State Administration that I should resign. I had to execute the decision of the administration chairman as he is the main person in Kyiv," he said.

He also stressed that the enterprise is suffering from misinformation and the deliberate undermining of public trust in its employees.

"Recently many statements by the city authorities have been made that the metropolitan is plagued by corruption, that tokens are not handled properly, that hundreds of millions of hryvnias are stolen, therefore the underground cannot work properly with the fare it has today. Due to this the company has passed a lot of checks, we have provided full access for all controlling bodies to all underground facilities, as we are interested in providing the public with truthful information. No violations were found in the subway," the official said.

In addition, the head of the subway press service, Natalia Shumak, reported that as a sign of disagreement with the actions and statements of the city authorities she is in solidarity with the subway head and is also leaving her job.
