Police detain several people who attacked Mariupol City Council building
Several people have been detained in an operation Ukrainian security forces conducted to take control of the Mariupol City Council building, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reports.
"Security forces liberated the city hall building at 0600 on May 7. Policemen detained a number of persons who could have been involved in unlawful activities," the ministry said in a statement on its Web site on Wednesday.
The Interior Ministry said a team of investigators working near the Mariupol City Council building discovered alcoholic drinks, Molotov cocktails, cans with fuel, Donetsk People's Republic merchandise, fire extinguishers, and gas masks.
