The building of the city council in Mariupol (Donetsk region) was released by Mariupol national guard forces early on Wednesday, Channel 5 has reported.
Tires were burning in the center of Mariupol all night, and sometimes shooting was heard.
According to local media, a shuttle bus and several cars came under fire early on Wednesday near a military base, not far from the local airport, and according to eyewitnesses, there were people in black and camouflage uniforms near the military unit itself.
At the same time, the demonstrators who seized the city council blocked traffic in the center of Mariupol. They blocked the central Lenin Avenue on both sides with vehicles, and then set fire to tires and a trolleybus. Traffic in the city center was restored as of Wednesday morning.
