Kernes undergoes second, "cosmetic" surgery - spokesman

Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes, who is now in Israel for medical treatment, has undergone one more surgery, Yuriy Sydorenko, spokesman for the Kharkiv City Council, told Interfax on Tuesday.

"It was a minor surgery which by a long stretch could be described as cosmetic," he said.

The operation was performed on the bullet wound, he said.

Kharkiv Vice Mayor Svetlana Horbunova-Ruban earlier said that Kernes's conditions was serious but stable. He remains in a state of induced sleep and is in need of artificial lung ventilation, she said.
