Over 100 guardsmen patrol Mariupol Town Council, with armed individuals inside – Interior Ministry
Over 100 military men of the National Guard have surrounded the building of Mariupol Town Council and affiliated territory to prevent mass abuses of law and order and to prevent an escalation of the conflict, according to police.
As the press service of Ukraine's Interior Ministry reported on Thursday, at about 0300 on April 24, 20 people entered the premises of Mariupol Town Council and demanded that the invaders vacate the town administration building. A clash erupted between the two groups of protesters. Law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene. Police officers intervened and contained the conflict. There are currently reports of about five people being injured during the scuffle. These citizens sought medical assistance.
Nearly ten armed persons remain in the building.
The law enforcement agencies are conducting procedural actions.
