Agreements on protesters vacating streets and squares do not concern Maidan – FM
The agreements reached between Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the European Union in Geneva on the vacation of roads, streets and squares in Ukraine do not concern the protesters on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv, Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia has said.
"If you read these agreements carefully, the issue concerns the release of streets, roads and squares that were illegally occupied by protesters. As far as I know, the activists are legally staying on the Maidan," he said.
As is known, Independence Square and part of Khreschatyk Street have been occupied by protesters since November 2013. During large-scale protests in the Ukrainian capital this winter protesters also occupied European Square and part of Hrushevskoho and Instytutska Streets.
