Separatists abduct two Ukrainian servicemen near Sloviansk - media
An intelligence officer and his driver – a serviceman – were abducted by separatists near Sloviansk (Donetsk region) on Tuesday, the OstroV online newspaper has reported, citing sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The officer was reportedly severely beaten and taken to a military unit in Amvrosiyivka district, Donetsk region.
"Terrorists called a battalion commander and demanded that they redeploy the military unit and pledge allegiance to the 'people of Donbas.' Otherwise, they threatened to kill the hostages," the newspaper reported.
After the military refused to do so, the terrorists left. The fate of the hostages remains unknown.
Interfax -Ukraine has not yet received an official confirmation of this report.
