NATO foreign ministers will discuss Ukraine and reconsider relations with Russia.
The domestic and external situation around Ukraine will dominate the agenda of the ministerial meeting in Brussels on April 1-2, NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu said at a briefing on Monday.
NATO foreign ministers will discuss the impact of Russia's actions regarding Ukraine, consider long-term and short-term steps to support Ukraine and reconsider relations with Russia, Lungescu said.
A NATO-Ukraine commission meeting will he held in the framework of a ministerial meeting and will be attended by acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia.
The ministers will issue a statement following the meeting, a high-level NATO official, who did not want to be identified, told reporters. They are expected to express strong support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty and see Russia's actions as a challenge to Euro-Atlantic security, Russia does not play by the rules and violates international laws, NATO cannot continue relations with Russia as before, the source said.
The working-level meetings with Russia have already been ceased but the possibility of diplomatic dialog through ambassadors remains, the source said.
The ministers also intend to discuss preparations for the coming NATO summit in Wales.
