Ukrainian Defense Ministry clarifying location of Ukrainian Navy Commander Haiduk
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has confirmed that a group of individuals has taken Ukrainian Navy Commander Serhiy Haiduk out of the Ukrainian Navy headquarters in Sevastopol.
"We confirm that he was taken out of the navy headquarters, and now we are finding out the details," the ministry's press service told Interfax-Ukraine.
The ministry said it was verifying the report that Haiduk was allegedly taken out of the headquarters in handcuffs by employees of the main intelligence department of the Russian Armed Forces.
"We do not know where he is now," the press service added.
Earlier Sevastopol media reported that FSB employees had allegedly taken the Ukrainian Navy commander out of the navy headquarters to an unknown location. Hundreds of representatives of Crimean self-defense forces and Russian Cossacks broke into the Ukrainian Navy headquarters on Wednesday morning and demanded that the command vacate the area.
