Germany will back Ukraine's attempt to stabilize situation – Merkel
In a phone conversation with Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, German Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated him on being elected to this post and said Germany will back the attempts made by the Ukrainian administration to stabilize the situation in Ukraine.
"Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel had a phone conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk. She congratulated him on his election to prime minister of Ukraine […] She said the most important thing now is economic and political stabilization in the country. Germany will support Ukraine in that," the German embassy in Ukraine reported on Friday, citing Merkel's press officer Steffen Seibert.
Merkel and Yatseniuk also discussed the developments in Ukraine, specifically, in Crimea. "They agreed that the territorial integrity of Ukraine should be preserved," the report says.
